Giving a Voice to the Silence offers positive angles to the issue that faces those with mental illness. Living with Schizo-Affective Disorder and being able to share my experiences with others, is the best way I know how to pay it forward. Life can be difficult, my goal is to bring a bit of hope to a place where many feel there is none.

Mental Health in the Limelight

biPolar - What's Up? - Donno, I'm kinda DownImage by Creativity+ Timothy K Hamilton via Flickr For those of us who live with mental illness it is all too often a life lived in secrecy, out of the public eye and with fear of someone finding out? It seems, however, that times are changing.

I drove down the street the other day and saw a billboard that made me smile and I felt, finally, that there was hope for all of us. The billboard, if you have not seen it, shows two friends sitting on the grass in a park, the headline says…”My friend has a mental illness,” then lists the website www.whatadifference.org

When I visited the site I was impressed with the information available and while it focuses on Bipolar Disorder, there is information that is relevant to anyone who lives with mental illness, or those who care about them.

At a time when so many people feel alone, it is a welcome change to see society finally putting a face to those who have had to hide for so long.
